WELCOME TO BIG SKY
A TOWN BUILT ON HISTORY
A beautiful place such as Big Sky, Montana, didn't come from the easiest of beginnings. However, I'm sure the collective census will agree that everyone wants to make sure their beloved town stays beautiful. Today, that still rings true and would make good ol' Clovis Deveraux proud to see what it has become since the town created where he served as the first mayor of Big Sky! And no matter where you look, you can see the beauty in the town. From the view of the mountains to every store on Main Street, there's always something to see. If you ask me, someone who was born and raised in Big Sky, I'm always seeing something different even after all these years!
Big Sky was founded in 1893 and has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but mostly the city has done nothing but grow into what it is today: 131 years later. Visitors to Big Sky can enjoy the perks of living in a friendly place with access to a top-notch ski resort for their recreational enjoyment. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well as an amazing theater! There's truly something to always peak your interest while you visit! Locals have the added bonus of enjoying exceptional schools for their children in Kindergarten through 12th grade! Once they're done with their first 12 years of school, they can move on to the award-winning Big Sky University to further their education while staying close to home!
No matter what it is though, Big Sky has it all that one would need or even possibly want! I know that I don't plan on leaving this beautiful place. As I was born and raised here, I aspire to also make sure my children and their children are also born and raised right here in this beautiful piece of Montana!

I tend to stay with my group of friends not branching out. Too many times getting burned with a girl just wanting to be my friend to get with one of my brothers. I'm a totally loyal friend though through thick and thin. You have my back and I'll have yours is what I say. I'm definitely a tomboy. I like doing boy things. I'm carefree and care for my friends and family with all my heart. I can be quite protective of the ones I love. I'm blunt and don't beat around the bush. So sometimes I offend people without meaning too.

On November 8th 1889 Montana gained it's Statehood. Four years later on November 20th 1893 Big Sky was established as a town by it's first citizen Clovis Deveraux. Joining him were five other founding families. My own great great grandparents, Woodston James and Clara Sue Moretti, included in that. The six men of the founding families also established the Wild Wolves MC club in 1899. The were always up on the new trends of motorcycles coming out. The club grew rapidly over the years, and the club today is still going strong. My father Python Moretti is the Vice President of the club. My Uncle Woody is the President.
My dad grew up here in Big Sky causing trouble like he does now adays, and everyone just loves him. He can be a hard man, but tot me and my family he's just a big old teddy bear. My aunt Gwen loves to tease him about that. Dad's real name is Cornelius and he hates it with a passion! When Aunt Gwen was little she didn't know how to say his name and what came out was Corny so it stuck as a family name. To me he's my daddy, and I love everything about him. He can definitely be amusing, and you never know what's going to come out of his mouth or how he'll react to anything!
My mom Elaine Phillips in New York City. She says there was always something to do there in the big city. We went when I was little one time, but I don't remember much of it so I hope we get to go again to visit the big city. Her older brother Henry went into the service and was barely out of basic training when he was deployed. His convoy, however, was wiped out not long after he was deployed, everyone killed in the attack. It devastated her family, and her parents moved the out of New York to Big Sky, Montana. Mom was an eighth grader when she started here. It was probably a culture shock for her coming from such a big city to a small town really in the middle of nowhere basically. If it weren't for the Sky Lodge here we probably wouldn't even be on the map!
The first time dad laid eyes on mom he couldn't take them off of her, and he walked straight into a flagpole knocking himself out for a bit. Uncle Woody witnessed the whole thing, and mom says that "However, there was one boy on the first day of eighth grade that I did notice more than the others. It could have been the fact that he was just that handsome or it could have been the reverberating ringing sound from him hitting a pole as hard as he did. To this day, I'm not sure what came first, me seeing him, or hearing the ringing of him hitting the pole he hit." Dad is never going to live that one down. He stalked her after that not being able to take his eyes off of her. You think he would have learned after running into the flagpole, but nope!
She says she pretended not to notice to give him the thrill of the chase. But one day she confronted him, and they've been together ever since! Dad says it was definitely on her terms as well. Mom really has him wrapped around her little finger, and it sounds like she has from day one. The guys like to razz dad too about being whipped, and him running into the flagpole, but he just takes it all in stride as he is more than in love with mom! It's a love I really hope to have one day!
They were married soon after they graduated from high school. It wasn't long before they had my oldest brother Sampson. A year later they had my brother Silas. I was born barely a year after him, and my name is Selena Elaine Moretti. By the time I was a toddler they were realizing I was a tomboy. I didn't want to wear no frilly dresses preferring to be dressed like my brothers which even then I believe I felt it was more comfortable like I do now. I was too young to remember.
When we were young a wolf would wake us up howling at night. It sounded like the wolf was inside the house with us. I'd go to Sampson's room when I'd find mom and dad's door locked and crawl into bed with him. He of course was awake having been woken up by that big bad wolf too. In the mornings I'd go into mom and dad's room when they were up and getting ready for the day telling mom and dad about the big bad wolf that woke us up the night before. I'd ask if they knew where the wolves were, and dad would hightail it out of the room. It wasn't till I got to junior high and started learning about the birds and bees that I caught on to what was going on. That is just something I don't even want to think about!
I do remember getting my mini bike when I turned four. I had been envious of my big brothers getting to ride their mini bikes all the time. Though dad did take me for rides on his bike to try and make up for it. That was always the highlight of my day getting to go for a ride with him. He's always been good about picking up on my moods and lightening the day for me with his antics. There's videos of him making us laugh when we were babies by making gushy noises and making faces of us. I love watching them with the family.
By the time I was seven I had graduated to a dirt bike and was putting the miles on it out on the dirt track at the Deveraux's. I was crushing the boys my age having a blast. I didn't give them a hard time though knowing they were already down about losing to a girl. Anything my older brothers did I did and some of the time was better than them. I had girl friends that I did some girl things with, but I had a lot more fun doing boy stuff with the boys. Getting down and dirty was better than primping in front of a mirror and doing hair and nails. Nah I'll take sports and stuff over that any day!
When there was a program for Archery started up when I was around nine I begged my parents to let me try it. I went and my first shot was a bull's eye. The instructor was shocked. I didn't hit it every time, but I was always in the circles. In competitions I was racking up the points helping the Archery team I got on win. My muscles at first hurt, but I grew used to it. It reminds me of medieval archery contests on movies that I love watching.
Going into Junior high when I was twelve I tried all the sports in junior high, but the only one I really liked was Basketball. It was sort of a contact sport, and I was aggressive at it. I also joined the Archery team, and the 7th grade team went undefeated that year. The same in the following year when I was in eighth grade. That year my friends tricked me into trying out for cheerleading wanting to spend more time with me, and wouldn't you know it I made the team. It really wasn't so bad. It definitely gave me a workout. Different from what I was used to.
Going into high school I kept playing basketball and was on the Archery team. My archery coach says I have a good shot at making the Olympics one day in Archery. Now that would be a dream come true. It's definitely a goal I'm going to keep working for. I'm a sophomore this year, and enjoying it so far. Still a cheerleader and on the basketball and Archery teams. I actually made Varsity on both of them this year. Still doing motocross too, and winning up a storm. I have a wall at home covered in medals and trophies. I'm going to be running out of room.
Something is going on with my friend Rayne, and everyone is starting to notice. He disappears at lunch time, and sometimes doesn't even show up to classes. He got suspended for fighting too. He's in trouble for that one. He's not even talking to his twin Reesa, and they used to be really close. It's time we all stepped up to the plate for our friend and find out what's going on. Before he really spirals out of control.

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
